A beautiful, rare pair of easy chairs designed by Joseph-Andre´ Motte, manufactured by Artifort in the Netherlands, circa 1965.

These lovely chairs are upholstered in high quality beige fabric. The seats are held by chrome-plated metal legs. This creates a lovely contrast that works really well with the straight forward, geometric design of the pieces. They are very recognizable pieces of French mid-century design that will contribute greatly to any decor!

The chairs remain in good vintage condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use, the fabric is slightly faded, preserving a very nice patina.

Joseph-Andre´ Motte (1925 – 2013) was a French furniture designer and interior designer and ranks among the most influential and innovative figures of post-war French design. He was born in Saint-Bonnet-en-Champsaur, after passing his ‚baccalaure´at’, he studied at the E´cole des Arts Applique´s in Paris (E´cole nationale supe´rieure des arts applique´s et des me´tiers d’art), where he graduated in 1948 at the top of his class. His career can be divided into two different stages: furniture design up to the end of the 1960s and interior design thereafter.
