A very rare first edition Big Tulip Chair, designed by Pierre Paulin, manufactured by Artifort in The Netherlands around 1950.
This is an iconic design with exceptional seating comfort and a beautiful unique style. The chair is newly upholstered in high quality new Richwool 61 fabric in a nice cream colour. This matches very nicely with the chrome plated metal crossbase. The elegant, creative shapes (inspired by the natural beauty of the tulip) of the chair makes it a highly recognizable Paulin piece, ready to impress in any interior!
It remains in very good condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina.

Pierre Paulin (1927-2009) was a French designer who embraced complexity. Admired and exhibited all-over the world, he was an architect of the imaginary, an unwitting creator of fashion, an unpredictable and pioneering spirit. For the past 60 years, Pierre Paulin has had a major impact on our everyday environment through shapes as sweet as memories, seats as braced as sculptures, spaces as undulant as sand dunes, and objects whose innovative style shape our daily life without our knowing it.
