An iconic coffee table from the Broomstick series, designed by Vico Magistretti and manufactured by Alias in Italy around 1970.

This rare table was part of the “Broomstick” collection designed in the late 1970s. Magistretti designed this series for Alias, an Italian manufacturer in Grumello del Monte. It made of high quality beech wood in a nice, light brown colour and with a white laminated top. The legs are solid. The smooth shape of the top combined with the very interesting structure of the legs create a unique style that makes this piece a true eye-catcher for any interior!

It remains in very good, vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina.

Vico Magistretti was born in Milan, Italy in 1920. He graduated in architecture in 1945. This was the start of an impressive career in architecture, town planning and industrial design. The first recognition of his work came in 1948, when he won the Gran Premio at the 8th Triennale (international exhibition in Milan). After that came almost forty years of activity with other prizes and awards in recognition of Magistretti’s work in various sectors in different countries. His designs can be found in museum collection all over the world! His designs have had a historic effect on the world of design. Experimenting with materials and sapce solution, form and function, Magistretti changed the world of design for good. He started designing for Cassina in 1960, and from that date on his signature is to be found on very many products. The Maralunga sofa and Nuvola Rossa bookcase, for example, are still worldwide best-sellers that excel in quality and style.
