A rare “Ruspa” table lamp designed by Gae Aulenti, manufactured by Martinelli Luce in Italy in the 1960s.
This bold lamp has a heavy black lacquered metal construction with an articulated arm and adjustable reflector, allowing for both direct and indirect lighting. Named “Ruspa”, which is Italian for bulldozer and reveals the inspiration for this fantastic design! It reflects Aulenti’s architectural approach to design, combining sculptural form with practical functionality, and thus has become a much sought after design classic. The movability of the shade allows the light to emit in many different ways and creating different, unique appearances, as shown in the photos. A strong, modern and playful design that will make a true statement piece for any decor.
The piece remains in very good, vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. Small user marks are shown in photos.
