Dating from the 1970s, this elegant “DS3” chair was designed by the influential Scottish architect and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh and produced by Cassina, Italy. The chair reflects Mackintosh’s distinctive approach to design, combining strong geometric lines with a refined, almost architectural character. Its black-painted wooden frame creates a dramatic silhouette, beautifully complemented by the natural texture of the woven rush seat.
A particularly beautiful detail can be found in the backrest, which is decorated with small square mother-of-pearl inlays. These delicate shimmering details add a subtle touch of luxury and create a beautiful contrast with the deep black wood. With its sculptural presence and refined craftsmanship, this rare Cassina edition is a striking example of Mackintosh’s visionary design language.
