A unique and complete chess table, the “Pacifico”, designed by Franco Bozzi and Duccio Trassinelli / Studio A.R.D.I.T.I. in Italy, manufactured in 1973.

Made of high quality wood with metal, which gives the piece a fantastic modern style, but there are many more layers to this choice of materials. The project is based on Trassinelli’s patent from the 70s, relating to a lighting system with electromagnetic contacts. The wire metal arc forms the conductor for electricity that is connected to the metal parts of the table, allowing the light to work. It switched on and off through a touch system under the top.

The inlaid chessboard at the center of the top is tilted, as the design was made to accompany a more relaxed playing position. The minimalist chess pieces are hand made of white and black painted wood.

All together this piece exudes quality and creativity, a fantastic find for any chess or design enthusiast! Only made once, with the intention of it being a one of a kind piece, celebrating the design, technology and artistic view of those who worked on it.

The piece comes with a signed certificate of authenticity by Duccio Trassinelli.

It remains in very good condition with only very minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a fantastic patina!
